ACPE-Accreditation

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, or ACPE, ensures that all continuing education providers have the highest standard of quality and current course information. This national council ensures that information and standards are uniform between providers. This provides consistency no matter which state you choose to complete your continuing education in. It’s important to ensure that your continuing education requirements are completed with this in mind. We are a proud accredited provider by the ACPE. Our pharmacy technician CE courses are designed to provide the highest quality of information and up-to-date research. So how does this benefit our members? Our accreditation means that we are being continuously monitored for our efforts to improve the quality of our courses. We design our coursework in strict compliance with the guidelines. This gives you the benefit of receiving the highest quality continuing education. This also means that you can complete your continuing education coursework with us online no matter what state you live in. You can travel to one of our many national and regional conferences and know that your credit applies in your state. Our members can be confident that the education they are receiving is of the highest quality standards.

About NABP CPE Monitor

Please note: CE programs completed on NPTA's website will be uploaded to CPE Monitor within 10 business days.

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, or NABP, launched the continuing pharmacy education monitoring service in 2011. This electronic monitoring system, called CPE Monitor, was designed in partnership with ACPE to provide a centralized place to track continuing education credits. The CPE Monitor platform makes it easier for you as a technician to track your credits and it makes it easier for State Boards of Pharmacy and certification agencies, like PTCB, to verify technicians’ compliance with continuing education requirements. A CPE monitor account is easy to use. There is even a mobile app for on the go verification. Our participation in this program ensures that you can check out your continuing education credits anytime, anywhere. You’ll know that you’ll be able to easily verify the credits you receive from NPTA.

How to Setup a CPE Monitor Account

Fortunately, setting up a CPE Monitor Account is super simple. You’ll need to visit the NABP to create an account. There are both options for a free account or a paid plan with more features.

Free Account Features:

  • CPE Activity Upload

  • Easily Downloadable List of Your Activity

  • Free, easy-to-use mobile app

The paid account is $29.95 annually and includes all of the features of the free account as well as some expanded benefits:

  • Upload of non-ACPE accredited credits

  • Breakdown of renewal requirements by state

  • Licensing status screen to show progress

  • Cycle deadline alerts

  • Transcript for each license

  • ACPE activity search

  • CPD tools

On the site, you’ll be able to create an eProfile ID and download the mobile app. Then, you can visit the program’s dashboard and create your individual plan. You’ll be able to track all of your learning and continuing education credits in one simple place! Make sure you add your NABP information to your NPTA member profile before taking courses to ensure your credits are uploaded.

Continuing Education Requirements

Certified pharmacy technicians are required to complete continuing education to renew their certification.  Continuing education ensures that certified pharmacy technicians stay current on the latest research and developments in pharmacy practice. Learning about new treatments and medications helps you stay current as a pharmacy technician. We make staying in compliance for your two-year renewal easy with our convenient learning options. NPTA offers a wide range of ACPE-accredited CE courses for our members to keep their CPhT certification up to date.

PTCB CE Requirements

The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) CPhT certification is valid for two years. During this time, you can work towards the continuing education requirements needed for renewal. Below are the continuing education requirements to renew PTCB CPhT certification:

  • A minimum of 20 hours of continuing education, which must include:
    • One hour of pharmacy law CE

    • One hour of patient safety CE

  • These must be pharmacy-technician specific and offered by ACPE-accredited, or approved, providers.

After you’ve completed these requirements, renewal should be quick and easy, as PTCB connects directly with CPE Monitor. Applications can be submitted 60 days prior to your certificate’s expiration date.

NHA CE Requirements

The National Healthcareer Association (NHA) CPhT certification is also valid for two years. Below are the continuing education requirements to renew NHA CPhT certification:

  • A minimum of 20 hours of continuing education which must include:

    • One hour of pharmacy law CE

    • One hour of patient safety CE

You must log your CE hours into the portal on their website for tracking. NPTA provides statements of credit for each continuing education course you complete with NPTA, so you can easily upload your proof of participation.

State Board of Pharmacy CE Requirements

Continuing education requirements vary by state. It’s important to be aware of the number of hours needed in the state you plan to practice within. Individual State Boards of Pharmacy dictate the details and requirements in your specific state.
