Learning Objectives:
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Define ethics and how it is differentiated from law
- Define the different levels of ethical decision making
- Review the code of ethics for pharmacists
- Describe the four principle approaches to ethical decision making
- List the steps in analyzing an ethical dilemma and apply these steps to analyze clinical cases
- Recognize the legal requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Insurance Act (HIPPA) and apply these requirements to ethical scenarios
- Recognize the ethical dilemmas when providing drug information
