Bio
As pharmacy buyer for two campuses in a remote location, Heather was integral to over $1M in pharmacy cost savings in 2025, exceeding departmental targets through inventory optimization, strategic product conversions, and a credit-recovery partnership. She received the National Pharmacy Purchasing Association’s Outstanding Buyer of the Year award and was one of only 12 candidates nationwide selected for the PTCB Leadership Institute, which she completed in 2025. She holds four advanced PTCB certifications.
Her Impact Story
Heather serves as our pharmacy technician purchasing agent, managing a large inventory at two campuses. With over a decade of service in our department and more than 5 years as our buyer, and 14 years with the organization, she has developed an exceptional understanding of our unique remote location needs and consistently maintains optimal stock levels despite frequent road closures from Denver. Through her diligent cost-saving initiatives and strong collaborative relationships with our financial and supply chain teams, Heather has been instrumental in maintaining excellent fiscal stewardship. Finance leadership has regularly commended our well-managed drug spend, which is largely attributable to her efforts. Last year, her outstanding performance was recognized nationally when she received the Outstanding Buyer of the Year award from the National Pharmacy Purchasing Association at their annual conference in Las Vegas.
Heather exemplifies our health system values in every aspect of her work. She maintains a visible presence throughout the pharmacy, readily assisting wherever needed. Her colleagues consistently reach out to her throughout the day for guidance on product supply matters. Heather is highly regarded by her peers, who frequently seek her out both for professional assistance and personal connection, making her a valued friend and colleague.
Heather demonstrates a strong commitment to professional development and continuous improvement. She has earned four advanced certifications from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and has proactively begun coursework on 340B program administration to prepare our hospital for potential future qualification. Her forward-thinking approach ensures we remain positioned for success.
