An Overview of Medical Marijuana and Cannabis


Learning Objectives:

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define Medical Marijuana
  2. Define Cannabinoids
  3. Distinguish between CBD and THC
  4. Recognize what is meant by the term synthetic cannabinoids
  5. Describe the differences between state versus federal perspective on legal issues surrounding medical marijuana
  6. Discuss the necessity of a pharmacists’ role at the dispensary level of medical marijuana
  7. Describe the difference between medical versus recreational use of marijuana
  8. Describe the pharmacology of marijuana
  9. List the indications for medical marijuana
  10. Describe the different dosage forms of cannabis
  11. List the adverse effects of medical marijuana
  12. Recognize drug interactions with medical marijuana
  13. Discuss the detection of marijuana in blood, urine, hair, and saliva
