Drug Induced Liver Injury

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Review the morbidity/mortality due to drug related liver injury (DILI)
2. Identify common drugs known to damage the liver
3. Identify the risk factors for DILI
4. Review the pathophysiology and mechanisms of DILI
5. Describe the stages of drug metabolism
6. Review factors influencing drug metabolism
7. Review the cellular mechanisms of hepatotoxicity
8. Discuss drug toxicity mechanisms
9. Describe the clinical presentation of DILI
10. List common clinical tools and diagnostics used in diagnosis of DILI
11. Differentiate between DILI and Non-DILI and causes of non-DILI
12. Discuss treatments for both DILI and Non-DILI
13. Discuss prevention strategies for patients and caregivers.
