Ethics and Law in Pharmacy Practice


Learning Objectives:

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define ethics and how it is differentiated from law
  2. Define the different levels of ethical decision making
  3. Review the code of ethics for pharmacists
  4. Describe the four principle approaches to ethical decision making
  5. List the steps in analyzing an ethical dilemma and apply these steps to analyze clinical cases
  6. Recognize the legal requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Insurance Act (HIPPA) and apply these requirements to ethical scenarios
  7. Recognize the ethical dilemmas when providing drug information
