Learning Objectives:
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

1. Explain the Federal HIPAA Privacy, Security and the HITECH laws.
2. List covered entities subject to the Privacy and Security Rules.
3. Describe the business associates.
4. List the Protected Health Information covered under the Privacy and Security Rules.
5. Explain the contents of a Notice of Privacy practice and understand to whom the notice must be given.
6. Understand the patients rights regarding PHI uses & disclosures.
7. List safeguards to maintain patient privacy in day-to-day operations.
