Vaccine Administration: Assuring Safety


Learning Objectives:

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Recognize a pharmacy technician’s responsibility to guarantee safety in the provision of vaccines.
  2. List at least three circumstances in which a pharmacy technician should refuse to give a vaccine.
  3. Explain the documentation required when providing vaccines. 
  4. Describe the public health impact of vaccination.
  5. Comment on the concept of herd immunity and the contribution of vaccines to herd immunity.
  6. Identify methods to determine which patients are in need of a vaccine.
